The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched in Mahatma Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969 by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. NSS cell at Govt. General Degree College at Gopiballavpur-II has started its journey in the 2016- 2017 academic session. The programme aims to inculcate the concept of social welfare among the students, and to provide service to society without bias. The students of this institution actively engage themselves to volunteer various programmes and initiatives undertaken by NSS cell for the betterment of the neighbouring village community. Thus, the bonding between the rural folks and our institution is firmly assured. Following activities are done by the NSS unit throughout the year:

• College campus cleaning.
• Gardening.
• Awareness Programme on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in neighbouring community.
• ARANYA SAPTHA Celebration.
• Vector born disease prevention awareness programme.
• National Unity Day Celebration.
• Special seminars and lectures on various issues related to the betterment of human life.
